A DWI ARREST IS NOT A CONVICTION. Although dwi laws and penalties in your state, may vary, as in dwi / dui laws in Texas or New York, vs dwi law in Minnisota or New Jersey. The one thing that does not vary is your right to Miranda. Your right to obtain a dwi lawyer, or criminal attorney, and not to speak is afforded to you under the constitution and does not vary in writing, but in practice, this may be your avenue of vindication. Best practice "road side" my be to immediately call a dwi lawyer in your state, and say nothing until you have done so.
